Tapatio Springs Golf Resort was founded by Clyde B. Smith in 1981 which was know at that time as Thunder Valley. Clyde had flown the area on a regular basis and came across this beautiful deep valley made of limestone cliffs, oak trees and the ideal climate for outdoor and sport enthusiasts.

Clyde came up with the idea of incorporating the area into a small resort and hotel with rooms for 89 guests and an 18 hole championship golf course for local area residents as well as travelers and vacationers alike.

The hotel and resort is now a full service award winning golf resort and conference center with 160 rooms and 27 holes of championship golf and has a wide range of amenities including horseback riding, hiking, biking, fishing and a population of over 350 residents know as Tapatio Springs.
